The project is located across from the Washington DC Convention Center in Mt. Vernon Square, at the corner of 9th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW. The DC Marriott Marquis, once completed, will serve as a luxury hotel, retail shops and restaurants in the heart of the city. The foundation work consisted of approximately 175,000 sq. ft. of slurry wall and 142 drilled shafts for the seven level underground garage and hotel facilities.

The foundation work was awarded to a TREVIICOS lead joint venture, DC Slurry Partners. It consisted of 95 slurry wall panels with a thickness of 36 and 42 inches and depths of up to 123’ deep, 142 drilled shafts 5, 6 & 7 ft. in diameter, with depths exceeding 150’.

The slurry wall will act as support of excavation and water cut off, while drilled shafts will facilitate the top-down construction method selected.
